Melissa feels the idea of supporting women in their birth journeys actually took root with her firstborn in 1994.  “I loved and cherished the guidance and support I received from other women.” She has 4 grown children, 2 of which were hospital births and 2 home births. She and her husband live in Bluffton.   

She officially began her birth work journey in 2018 and has gone on to work as a doula, certified lactation counselor, PCA in OB, and birth assistant for home births.  Melissa received her doula training through DONA and then became certified through Global Birth Community. Melissa feels honored to be able to share her experience with women and families. She approaches birth holistically, believes in uninterrupted birth, immediate mother/infant bonding, early breastfeeding, and attachment parenting.  Melissa not only offers physical support during labor but believes her role is to act as an advocate for the birthing woman and her family. 

Melissa knows there is so much to birth... it’s emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual.  She likes to think of herself as a “birth” friend. Someone who can walk along side you and your partner, answer your questions, help relieve any fears you may have & empower you and your partner to make the best choices possible for you and your growing family. She offers support to you and your family before, during and after birth.  She offers the following packages :

Basic doula package - $700
Includes 3 prenatal visits, birth plan work shop, unlimited text and calls, unlimited full birth support, & 1 postpartum/breastfeeding visit. 

Postpartum package - $1050
Includes everything from basic doula package and six/2-hour visit a week to provide postpartum services.      

Overnight postpartum visits are available for families looking for an option for rest and help with breastfeeding.
