The Doula Network of Fort Wayne was established in 2006 in an effort to educate the local community on the role of a doula, and to connect doulas with prospective families.
From its inception, DNFW has maintained the goal of uniting families with doulas, uniting the community of birth professionals despite our many differences, and serving our community in ways that we hope ensure every family has the birth and postpartum support they desire.
Since our 2006 founding, we have expanded and transformed into a network of doulas and adjacent maternity care professionals, dedicated to building up the birth community with growth and progress. From experienced doulas to those just beginning, we are dedicated to nurturing the doula spirit in a way that is supportive and sustainable for all.
Among the professionals in DNFW, you'll find doulas with experience in every birth location in the vast service areas we cover, spanning far beyond the city of Fort Wayne. Our doulas have served families in Warsaw, Mishawaka, South Bend, Marion, Indianapolis, Muncie, and even Southern Michigan and Western Ohio.
From our early days of in-service visits to different provider offices and birth locations simply to introduce doulas as professionals to the obstetric community, to continuing education with many local experts in birth and maternity-care related fields, to maintaining positive relationships with providers while standing up for the rights of all who birth in this community, DNFW is committed to excellence in how our organization positively contributes to the world of birth and postpartum.
The members of DNFW include birth and postpartum doulas, many with ancillary services as lactation professionals, placenta encapsulators, childbirth educators, and more. We believe there is no one "right" way to be a doula, and support each of our members on their respective journeys in the field of professional birth work.
Our members have a wide variety of areas of expertise, while all holding to the standards of professionalism and excellence. Our Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice set us apart as a long-standing presence in the birth community.
If you're looking for a doula, come to Meet the Doulas for a speed-dating style event to find birth and postpartum doulas available to support you! In the meantime, check out the doula profiles listed on this site to get to know a bit about each of our members.
